If you can find it, I can carve it

When Mayor Finn of the northern village of Great Bear Lake heard three teenagers met and survived an encounter with mythical fish-people, he decided they were the village’s best chance to fix the lake and its increasingly large dead zones.

So, Mia, Minnie, Faerun, and their friend Indigo took Mayor Finn out on lake on a fishing expedition for the fish people, but got nothing for their trouble except a day on the water. He suggested they find Warwick, a sculptor who lives on the southern shore, who seems to know more about water than anyone else nearby.

They did, surprising Warwick and his three cows. Teenagers, when gifted with the ability to talk with animals, will. Half the party spent some time talking with his cows, learning about different flavors of grass and which ones make for the best cud, before remembering why they were there and making a deal with Warwick. They would find him a very large shell to carve, and he would tell them what he knows about ecology.

Further around the lake, in a beautiful estuary, they found an appropriate shell. Unfortunately, its owner, Lucy the dragon turtle, was wearing it.
